I am French and speak French only to our 1 year-old daughter. My husband speaks only English (he is learning French together with his daughter). I would like to create a French playgroup in Suffolk county (Long Island, NY).
Our local library would possibly provide a room for that. I would like Emilie to have some French-speaking friends.

At home we mostly speak Spanish since I know Spanish. I tried to talk to my children in French but it is hard since my dh doesn't speak it. I think my oldest son understands it but does not speak it eventhough he knows a lot of words.

The common language between me and my husband is only English. Since I am from Barcelona, Spain my mother language is Catalan. Andreas mother's language is Greek, since he is Cypriot. And the nanny that takes care of our babies is from Mexico, so she only speaks Spanish.
I talk to them in Catalan always, Andreas, my husband, talks to them in Greek, the nanny talks to them in Spanish. We live in Alabama so the language here is English (which is what I speak with Andreas)

We have just started using OPOL. I would be greatful for any reccomendations on how to raise my son bilingually in French and English in an area of the US where there are very few French speakers and when French is not my mother tongue. Has anyone attempted this at home?

We aren't sure yet where we live! Currently, things are a little crazy, with a lot of trips back and forth across the ocean. I speak English to Matthew most of the time, but I try to speak French with him a little every week. My husband speaks Punjabi to him when it's just the two of them, but I can't get him to continue when I'm there (hard since I don't understand much of it). Iqbal and I speak French to each other.

I am a Korean born in Japan. Unfortunately I don't speak Korean. I thought I should mention this because my name is in Korean just in case someone wondered.

Both parents ar native English speakers. Stephanie teaches Italian but is struggling to teach it to her son! Scott speaks a bit and is eager to help but neither parent knows how to get a toddler to be truly bilingual.
